Somatic Experience Practitioner (SEP)
Elizabeth guides clients towards emotional, mental and physical wellness through the integration of psychotherapeutic and contemplative approaches. She has worked in the field of counseling and psychotherapy for over 23 years. Elizabeth has experience in counseling clients on issues related to post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, anger management, trauma, behavior difficulties, self-esteem, parenting, family conflicts, communication skills and the management of chronic dis-ease.
In addition to working at Integrated Chronic Care Service in Fall River (NSHA), Elizabeth sees clients privately at the Therapeutic Approach Health Centre one day per week from 10 am – 4:00 pm (some evening hours are possible). Her fee is $130/hour and services are covered under most extended health plans. Payment options are available. Sessions are tax deductible.
Elizabeth obtained a Master of Education in Counseling from Acadia University and completed a four-year intensive training with the Psychosynthesis Pathways Institute in Montreal, PQ. She has training in Transactional Analysis as well as short-term dynamic psychotherapy. She completed professional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at Omega Institute in 1997, and has been facilitating MBSR workshops privately and within the healthcare system for more than 22 years. She recently completed the full 3-level training in Somatic Experiencing for trauma recovery. She maintains active training and practice in meditation and yoga.
Elizabeth is a member of the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association and the Nova Scotia College of Counseling Therapists. She is also a member of the Somatic Experience Trauma Institute (SETI). She is a certified supervisor of counselor-therapist Candidates seeking registration with the NSCCT.
